Post-mission Report No 1.
Well, we've been home 6 weeks now.
If you go to my Mission Report Blog, you will see our report about the drive home which took about 2 weeks.
We were officially released from our mission by our Stake President Taula, a couple of nights after returning home, but it honestly wasn't until we had given our home-coming talks that really felt like it was "done".
The first Sunday in Geelong for us was General Conference video weekend. We didn't attend - we just watched it online. We had already seen about 80% of it before the weekend anyway.
The second Sunday here in Geelong we had some Japanese friends from Cairns come with us to Church, which we very much enjoyed, and we all felt very welcome. Lots of hugs etc.
Then the next Sunday, Miriam and Taylor came over to see us, and they came to Church with us, of course.
Then the next Sunday our young friend C_____, who lives here in Geelong, came to Church with us, which again was very enjoyable.
Last Sunday 12th November, we went to Wonthaggi branch with Miriam and Taylor, after having gone to see Jiah play basketball on the Saturday, and Taylor and I had a kitesurf together at Coronet Bay late on Saturday afternoon.
Church in Wonthaggi Branch was interesting. Two old friends were there - Glen Whautere-Witehira and John Tenant. It's definitely an old retired persons branch. It was early good to catch up with those two. I knew John from about 25 years ago, when we served together on the Maroondah (maybe it was Heidleberg) Stake High Council, with John Galanos as Stake President and Peter Harkness and Warren Tempany as counsellors.
Another week has gone by - it's now Sunday 19th November. Where did the last week go? Well, one highlight was that we went to the Temple on Wednesday night, and we were called to be Temple workers, which we are excited about. We will be at the Temple on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of the month. I feel like I am needed now.
I have been feeling a bit "put out to pasture" so to speak. I need some sort of responsibility, some sort of calling to keep me focused. Ideally, I would like some sort of teaching calling, but if there is no "vacancies" in those sort of callings, anything else will do. Working in Temple is something that we would do anyway, even if we had a regular sort of calling.
